What’s New this Winter in the Wedding World?

We’ve just returned from an exciting trip to the British Bridal Exhibition in Harrogate, an event we go to twice a year to catch up with the best designers and to discover what’s hot on trend.

We always return with new fashions that ensure your special outfit is bang up to date, along with new collections from designers that take our breath away.

Of course, it’s a real treat to be supplied with delicious glasses of bubbly as we watch the models show off the top designers’ collections on the catwalk. It really is an amazing few days for us as we mingle with others that live and breathe bridal wear while bringing back the best wedding dresses, bridal accessories, prom dresses, mother of the bride outfits, special occasion and evening wear for you to enjoy in our Hampshire boutique.

This time was no different and we spotted many emerging fashions that brides-to-be are sure to love this winter and into 2014. Some of the designs wouldn’t have looked out of place in 1920’s Downtown Abbey - they were chic, sophisticated and uber glamorous, we’re sure the designers must be fans!

Fast Forward to Head Dresses

Headdresses are always the focus of any bride’s accessories and as with bridal gowns, the fashion for bridal accessories can change each year. We’ve seen romantic flowing veils to statement birdcage veils to high tiaras to simple hair pins! Your choice of headwear is entirely personal as regardless of trends it is important that it complements your dress and you look and feel like the bees-knees!

This year we’ve seen the trend continue for side tiaras and hair combs, some large and full of Swarovski crystals to the very dainty fashioned from pretty pearls. We also saw headdresses worn further forward onto the forehead – The Great Gatsby style!

If you would like to see how these look on you, pop in or make an appointment – they are in our Hampshire bridal shop now.

Vintage goes sexy, slinky and twinkly

Again, inspired by the roaring 20’s, wedding dresses take on an Art Deco feel, imagine slinky fabrics, twinkling with heavy embellishment and super low backs. This is so exciting as this is an era that celebrated personal expression and glamour.

The trend for vintage inspired wedding gowns continues into 2014 but with a sexy twist as curves are celebrated beneath luxurious fabrics along with plunging necklines, super low or statement backs and plenty of sparkle.

It was, as always, great to catch up with old friends and to meet some new.
